Faking Corporate Identities

SunmaN//THROB

This is feedback to Adok's article: "Namevoting Or: The Need for a Corporate Identity", published in Hugi 23.

Well I think that Adok is right, when he says that people vote not only for the known group's name itself, but also for their trademark, style and feeling.

I had an interesting experience in this area: I tried to copy another's group style and trademark. Maybe you remember the 64k intros Licht series by Haujobb. I liked the code and music in these intros very much, so when I felt that I COULD code all that, I coded all that. First, I needed a music in Muffler's style. And the splendid musician Manwe from SandS did such music. Then, I watched all Licht intros and tried to copy the most loveable effects. It was done successfully.

And something else was necessary: The Haujobb's Running Man. Manwe drew a man like Haujobb's, and our dark affair was done. But: if we signed the intro by our realnicks (not realnames), the watchers could think that it wasn't Haujobb's intro. So, we signed as Sunnfire (me) and Munnwer (Manwe). Our group's name was Throujobb (from THROB and Haujobb), so nobody could name us fakers.

Let's fight namevoting by faking corporate identity !!!

PS: All trademarks belong to their respective owners

PPS: The intro placed second at Paradox'2001, it seems like watchers didn't believe that it was Haujobb's intro.

The intro is available at scene.org.
